Anthony’s Cigar Emporium is continuing the celebration of its 20th anniversary with a limited production store exclusive from La Flor Dominicana, who also happens to be celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Mike Teufel, owner of Anthony’s Cigar Emporium, told halfwheel that LFD was one of the first companies that the Tucson, Ariz. retailer brought in, and the two have maintained a close relationship since. “I wanted a classic La Flor Dominicana taste for this release, and Litto Gomez blended this fantastic cigar for the celebration,” said Teufel.

The La Flor Dominicana Anthony’s Cigar Emporium is a 6 1/4 x 60 box-pressed toro gordo that uses a Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper over Dominican binder and fillers. Only 200 boxes of 10 are being produced, with a single stick price of $11.50 and a box price of $115, though they are being discounted to $100 during tonight’s release event, which will feature Litto Gomez, the head of LFD. The cigar will then head to Anthony’s other locations as well its website.

It’s the second cigar released in the past week for Anthony’s Cigar Emporium, which has four locations in Tucson and a fifth in Phoenix. On Friday, the store welcomed Janny García of My Father Cigars to celebrate the launch of the My Father Le Bijou 1922 The Martino.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
