When the Anastasia Añejado was announced, Caldwell Cigar Co. said the cigars would ship to stores in “summer,” as it turns out, they were shipping in a couple of weeks.
The Anastasia Añejado 2016 began arriving at stores this past week. It’s a 5 3/4 x 43 corona that uses a Dominican habano mejorado wrapper over an Indonesian binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic. As the name implies, the cigar was rolled in 2016—at the same time as the original Anastasia, though it’s neither the same blend nor made at the same factory—Tabacalera La Alianza S.A.—as the original. Caldwell has declined to disclose the factory that made the cigar.
It has an MSRP of $25 per cigar and is limited to 6,000 boxes of 20 cigars.
Caldwell said the Anastasia Añejado 2016 was supposed to be released between 2016 and 2018 but issues with packaging prevented the cigar from heading to stores. Then the COVID-19 pandemic further delayed the release until this year.
In addition to the Anastasia Añejado 2016, Caldwell says there will be another new Anastasia line introduced later this year.
