American Legion Premium Cigars, the line of premium cigars created by the Blanco Cigar Company to help raise funds for the American Legion, will have two new vitolas added to it later this year.

David Blanco of Blanco Cigar Co. told halfwheel that a 5 x 52 robusto and 6 x 60 gran toro are being added, with pre-orders accepted at the IPCPR Convention and Trade Show later this month. Blanco expects to have the cigars on shelves in the fall, either in October or November. Pricing has not been disclosed as of yet.

It will be the first time the line has added new sizes since being announced in February 2014. It debuted in a single vitola, a 6 x 52 toro that came with an MSRP of $5.75 each and $115.00 per box of 20 cigars. The cigar uses a Nicaraguan habano rosado wrapper with Nicaraguan and Honduran tobacco underneath.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
