A pair of new cigars that are made in New York City is now shipping to stores.

They come from Amendola Family Cigar Co. and the cigars are made at Martinez Cigars, a family-owned cigar factory located in Manhattan. The cigars are part of the company’s new NYC Series and they are named after one of Broadway’s most famous musicals, West Side Story. There are two different cigars: The Blade and The Bat, references to weapons used by gangs during the musical.

The Blade is a 6 x 52 torpedo that uses a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper over an Indonesian binder over fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The Bat is also a 6 x 52 torpedo that uses as Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Indonesian binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.

Because the cigars come in a single 20-count box with 10 cigars of each blend, the MSRPs are the same for both: $14 per cigar. The cigars are differentiated by a secondary band, which has an image of the respective weapon.

Amendola Family Cigar Co. says the cigars are now shipping to stores and the company is hosting a quartet of launch events in New York City. There is an event tonight at Merchants NY in Manhattan, tomorrow there is an event at Barclay Rex in Manhattan and there are events at Harry’s Habana Hut in Queens and South Shore Cigar Club in Long Island on Saturday.
