The Grupo de Maestros are putting their signatures on another brand.
At this week’s IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, Altadis U.S.A. will unveil the H. Upmann Grupo de Maestros Connecticut. While the Grupo de Maestros—a name given to various heads of production within Imperial Brands plc’s premium cigar operations—technically are responsible for most H. Upmanns blend sold in the U.S., this time the group’s name will go on a cigar. Previously the Grupo de Maestros moniker has only appeared Montecristo releases.
News of the release was first reported by Cigar Aficionado. An email sent to an Altadis U.S.A. spokesperson was not returned.
The new cigar uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Dominican binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Of note, the cigars feature a maduro cap.
It’s offered in four sizes.

The 2018 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show begins July 13 in Las Vegas.
