At this summer’s IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, Alec Bradley showed off a new line of cigars called Post Embargo, with the promise that it would be on a limited number store shelves by the end of the year. This week, that promise got fulfilled as the cigars began arriving at retail, though dressed quite differently than they were on the show floor in Las Vegas.

The Alec Bradley Post Embargo uses a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos for the filler, dual binder with a leaf coming from each country and a Honduran wrapper finishing off the cigar. It’s available in four sizes, robusto (5 x 52, $8), toro (6 1/4 x 54, $8.25) gordo (6 x 60, $9.25) and lancero (7 1/2 x 41, $8.50). All four sizes come in 20-count boxes, with production handled by Fabrica de Tabacos Raices Cubanas S. de R.L., in Honduras.

At the show, Alan Rubin told halfwheel that 1,000 boxes were of the robusto, toro and gordo and 500 boxes of the lancero would be released to retailers who attended the show, with other orders filled in 2016.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
