Rafael Nodal of Boutique Blends announced today that the Aging Room Bin No. 1 has begun shipping to retailers and will soon be on store shelves.

The line, which was announced in early May, draws on aged tobacco from Jose “Jochy” Blanco at Tabacalera Palma, the factory that produces Boutique Blends’ lines. Nodal said that the tobacco has been on reserve since Blanco’s early days of growing Cuban seed tobacco in the Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic, with the binder and filler for the Aging Room Bin No. 1, dating back to 1999 and 2001. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Habano leaf.

There are three sizes being released, a 6 1/8 x 52 known as B Minor, 5 1/4 x 54 called C Major and a 6 1/4 x 63 dubbed G Major, with the names continuing Aging Room’s pattern of using musical terms for vitolas.

The cigar was officially unveiled at the 2014 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show in mid-July.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
