ACE Prime Cigars will soon be saying bonjour to French cigar smokers, as the company has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Albana Tobacco that will bring the company’s cigars to the country beginning in April.

Charles Spriet, the owner of Albana Tobacco, also owns A La Civette du Palace Royal, a cigar store that traces its roots to 1716 and is considered to be the oldest cigar store in the world. It is located in one of the city’s busiest areas, as it sits across from the Louvre and the Palais-Royal, the former Royal Palace and current home to several government agencies.

Albana Tobacco will be offering the Pichardo-branded lines of cigars, as well as the Luciano The Dreamer and the MXS Signature Series Cigars, the collection that is made in conjunction with former professional athletes. ACE Prime’s portfolio is produced at Tabacalera Pichardo in Estelí, Nicaragua.

“We put our soul into everything we produce, and it’s humbling to see the growth and acceptance of these cigars,” said Luciano Meirelles, master blender and co-owner of ACE Prime Cigars and Tabacalera Pichardo, via a press release. “We are truly excited for our growth in the European market as we continue to share our cigars with the world,” he added.

In Oct. 2020, the company added distribution in Germany, and then closed out the year by announcing that it had added distribution in Brazil. Earlier in 2020, the company entered into a U.S. distribution agreement with Crowned Heads.

ACE Prime also announced that it has hired Guillaume Cocagnac, a local Parisian representative, to help with the company’s ongoing expansion into the European market.

An official launch party is planned for the summer, subject to developments with the COVID-19 pandemic.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
