4. CAO Vision 2022

Many years ago when I was just getting into cigar smoking, the store I used to frequent put almost all of the cigars it carried in individual trays to maximize space in their humidors. But one shelf—The Top Shelf as it was called despite being in the middle—contained cigars in their original boxes, including the original CAO Vision, which was known for a blue LED light inside the high-gloss white box.

After releasing a second, updated version in 2020, General Cigar Co. released the third installment of the CAO Vision in 2022, giving the packaging both a new shape and a new color scheme.

Instead of a traditional box, this CAO Vision comes in a humidor-style box with two push-sensitve, slide-out drawers, each containing 15 cigars. The boxes get a holographic treatment and orange LEDs around both of the drawers.

This most recent CAO Vision is a true showpiece, both in retail humidors to draw in customers, as well as in whatever space they ultimately end up in after being purchased. However, as we found out, the boxes aren’t quite as durable as hoped, as Brooks notes below. — Patrick Lagreid.

Unfortunately, the CAO Vision 2022 we purchased had damage that was immediately apparent when I removed it from its shipping box. Specifically, the front piece attached to the bottom drawer had come unglued on the right side, making it very difficult to pull that drawer open. —Brooks Whittington.
