5. Jas Sum Kral Fuck the FDA

For the past several years, the cloud of FDA regulations of premium cigars has loomed large and heavy over the industry. Many have expressed frustration over the matter, and in the case of Jas Sum Kral, owner Riste Ristevski put his thoughts in the form of a cigar, with the agency’s own writings serving as the packaging.

The Jas Sum Kral Fuck the FDA was released in March, with each 10-count bundle coming wrapped in a copy of the cover page of FDA’s 499-page deeming regulations of certain tobacco products.

Paper-wrapped bundles don’t generally merit consideration for packaging awards, but few have encapsulated the feelings around a topic as well as Jas Sum Kral’s Fuck the FDA. While some might object to the name, it is a remarkably well-executed release for a cigar called Fuck the FDA— Patrick Lagreid.
