After making the list in four consecutive years—yes, making it in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017—the Davidoff Zodiac Series missed out on the awards last year. Not in 2019.
The Davidoff Limited Edition 2020 Year of the Rat is a relatively simple cigar box, albeit it a very well done, simple box. However, the stars of the show are the string ties on the top of each box, something that—like the red and gold colors—screams China.
With these releases in particular, I always have to remind myself that this year’s version should be judged by itself, not based on how it compares to the Zodiac Series of years past. As we get closer to the end of the series, I can’t help but look forward to seeing all of the innovative cigar box designs Davidoff will have released by the end of it. — Charlie Minato.
