7. Gurkha Cellar Reserve 15 Year 10th Anniversary (2017 Packaging Awards)

Gurkha does packaging well, and yet, for as pretty and impressive as the Gurkha Cellar Reserve 15 Year 10th Anniversary’s box is, I have mixed opinions about it. The good is that it’s a large humidor that looks very impressive. It holds well over the 50 cigars that come with it, and is probably good for at least another 100 toro cigars. At $700 for a legitimate humidor and 50 cigars, it’s also pretty affordable.

Prior to actually receiving the humidor I would have probably voted this higher. But after setting it up, it just feels cheap. The handles on the side, which look like brass, are in fact plastic. The interior pieces are thin and don’t give you confidence like a well made humidor and while I’m still testing how the humidor functions, simple tasks like opening and closing the humidor leave a lot to be desired.

If you are expecting something like the company’s Royal Humidors, you will be highly disappointed. However, for less than 1/10th of the price, I think the Cellar Reserve 10th Anniversary is a good value, not that we’ve ever factored that into this list. — Charlie Minato.
