6. Tatuaje Broadleaf Collection (Packaging Awards 2017)

Box collections containing a multitude of cigar blends or vitolas are not exactly a new thing in the cigar world and this year Tatuaje did just that with a nod to the past with its Reserva Broadleaf Collection. Retailing for a whopping $1,200 each, the massive case is a 100-count box that contains 10 bundles of 10 different Tatuaje Brown Label releases, all of which incorporate Connecticut broadleaf wrappers.

The box itself is similar to how cigars were packed a century ago where oftentimes the cigars would be ordered from the factory and shipped to Europe. Prior to Tatuaje’s use, Habanos S.A. used a similar concept for the Cohiba Selección Reserva.

Although Johnson originally was planning on releasing 5,000 of the collection boxes to retailers, he eventually decided to drastically cut the total number of master cases in favor of releasing 10-count boxes of each of the cigars included in the collection.
