2. La Gloria Cubana 25 Aniversario (2017 Packaging Awards)

I remember the first time I saw the La Gloria Cubana 25 Aniversario humidor at the Festival del Habano XVII in 2015, and from the moment I saw it, I knew Habanos S.A. nailed the goal of the project, which ironically has little to do with the cigars inside.

While it’s called the La Gloria Cubana 25 Aniversario and contains 15 each of two special edition sizes of the La Gloria Cubana blend, a Pirámides (6 1/10 x 52) and Robustos Extra (6 7/10 x 48), the humidor is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the La Casa del Habano franchises, the stores dedicated exclusively—err primarily—to the sale of Habanos S.A. products. As such, the humidor is designed to look like a colonial style house and/or a storefront, depending on your viewpoint

Each humidor was created from fine woods by Cuban artisans. The columns on the outside are impeccable, while the inner tray features vents in the shape of the La Casa del Habano logo.

When a company releases a humidor as the packaging for cigars, it needs to get it right, and Habanos S.A. did just that with the La Gloria Cubana 25 Aniversario. — Patrick Lagreid.
