1. Cohiba 50 Aniversario (2016 Packaging Awards)

Habanos S.A. has long been known for pulling out the stops for the humidors produced for anniversaries, but the Cohiba 50 Aniversario humidor took the tradition to another level.

Produced for the legendary marca’s 50th anniversary, each of the 50 individually-numbered humidors are hand made by Elie Bleu out of a number of different woods, including cedar, ebony, macassar and sycamore. But the star of the show is the exterior, which has been lined with Cuban ligero tobacco leaves that have been plated with 24-carat gold. The contents are nothing to sneeze at either, with each humidor holding 50 of the first 60 ring gauge cigar to come from Habanos S.A., the Cohiba 50 Aniversario, which measures 7 x 60 and has been given the vitola name grandiosos.

Of course, if that was all there was, it would probably be enough, but this being Habanos S.A. there is more, lots more. In addition to the items above, each humidor has an exclusive app for their tablet or smartphone that allows the owner to keep track of both the humidity and temperature inside remotely. Finally, the large humidors include a travel humidor that holds five cigars, a leather cigar case and an ashtray produced using the same technique as the exterior of the main humidor.

It doesn’t come cheap. The humidors are priced at €200,000 ($211,640). But as always, we don’t factor price into scores.
