For the third consecutive session, Bob Ferguson, the Democratic attorney general for the state of Washington, will ask the legislator to raise the minimum age to purchase tobacco products and vaping liquids from 18 to 21.

The bill has failed in the last two sessions, in part because it would cost the state $16 million in estimated tax revenue over the first two years.

If passed, Washington would join California and Hawaii as the only states where the minimum age to purchase tobacco products is 21.
