A number of details are still being finalized, but what has been confirmed is that it’s the La Colmena blend in a 6 x 48 belicoso vitola, with 200 bundles of 10 cigars being produced. Andrew T. of SmallBatchCigar.com made the initial announcement on the Reddit r/cigars forum on Friday before sharing additional details and a mockup of the packaging with halfwheel.

The release is still three to four months away, in which time packaging, pricing and a name for the cigar will be finalized. Production is being handled by El Titan de Bronze in Miami.

The La Colmena Unico Especial scored a 91 on halfwheel in November and finished #10 on the halfwheel 25 of 2014. The blend uses an Ecuadorian DesFlorada wrapper, Ecuadorian binder and filler from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.

Warped recently announced a new line, La Hacienda, that will debut this spring, as well as a new size in its Flor del Valle line called Las Brumas that is scheduled for a February release.

SmallBatchCigar.com is the online store of Maxamar Cigars, located in Orange, Calif.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
