Crowned Heads

This is just the second time that a Las Calaveras blend will use a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper. New for 2023 is a 5 1/2 x 52 belicoso that will only be sold in samplers.

While the prices for most of the company’s products will increase, the Four Kicks Capa Especial and Le Pâtissier lines are not affected by this change.

This limited edition release takes the standard Mil Días blend and replaces the Ecuadorian habano wrapper with an Ecuadorian Sumatra varietal. Crowned Heads did the same thing last year but in a different size.

This is the fourth time since 2015 that Crowned Heads has released a shorter, limited edition vitola of one of its line during the “colder” months of the year.

This year’s Marranitos release keeps the theme of last year’s cigar: a limited edition that uses the same internal blend as the regular Mil Días but with a different wrapper. This cigar will be a 6 1/8 x 48 vitola.

While Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr.’s Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. has made most of the Crowned Heads’ TAA releases over the years, this is the first time it’s making The Lost Angel. The cigars will began shipping to TAA stores in May.

The second limited edition in Crowned Heads Four Kicks Capa Especial line is the longest and thinnest vitola so far, a 7 1/2 x 38 lancero that is limited to 2,500 boxes of 12 cigars.

The Azul y Oro is named after the favorite whisky of Gustavo Cura, one of the most important people in Nicaragua’s cigar industry, though a name few consumers have heard of.

The Le Carême Pastelitos LE 2023 is named after a famed French chef and a classic Cuban puff pastry.

Due to a shortage of Connecticut broadleaf wrappers, Crowned Heads has not shipped either cigar since 2019.

Azul y Oro draws inspiration from Gustavo Cura’s favorite blended whisky, Johnny Walker Blue Label.
