Last year, work began on changes to the Smoke Free Illinois Act and Code that would have prohibited smoking in patios, decks, rooftops and other outdoor areas of restaurants and bars. Now, the Illinois Department of Public Health has clarified the law and removed the language that would have banned smoking at the outdoor areas.
