Smoker Friendly, one of the largest tobacco-oriented retail businesses in the world, has acquired Cigars on 6th in Denver, Colo.

The move gives Smoker Friendly another premium location in the Denver area. The company, which has 103 locations in six states, is based in Boulder, Colo., about 30 miles north of Denver.

“The acquisition of this store is a great opportunity to continue to expand our footprint in the Denver market and more specifically continue to grow our market share in the hand-rolled cigar retail sector,” said Terry Gallagher Jr., ceo and president of The Cigarette Store Corp., which owns Smoker Friendly, in a press release.

“We are very excited about bringing the great premium cigar business that is established in this store and the unique neighborhood personality that Dan Dunne created at Cigars on 6th into our portfolio. Dan and his team did a great job of creating and building this iconic Denver cigar store. We are proud Dan looked to Smoker Friendly as an acquirer when he was ready to exit the business.”

Smoker Friendly’s 103 locations are largely not traditional cigar stores. The company owns tobacco stores, liquor stores, convenience stores and cigar outlets.

“The bus has left the building,” wrote Dunne on Facebook. “After 16 plus years at the helm of Cigars On Sixth, I’m officially retired! The shop sold this morning and is in great hands. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!”

Cigars on 6th is located at 707 E 6th Ave.
