Two years ago, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars announced a partnership with football star Ray Lewis, the cigar was to be known as the Rocky Patel Legends 52 Ray Lewis, a 6 1/2 x 52 cigar us a habano oscuro wrapper over Nicaraguan fillers. The cigar never made its debut as it was placed “on hold” right before the 2013 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show.

Now it’s back on track.

Last week, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars filed for a trademark on the name and Cockeysville, Md.-based The Humidour Cigar Shoppe has announced it will play host to the cigar’s national launch.

According to the retailer, the blend has changed, with it now listed as using Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers, Brazilian and Mexican binders and a habano wrapper from Ecuador.

The cigar carries a familiar purple, similar to the color Lewis wore for 17 years while playing for the Baltimore Ravens.

Lewis is the third athlete Rocky Patel Premium Cigars has partnered with following the HR500 with baseball hall of famer Gary Sheffield and a variety of cigars made in collaboration with hockey legend Bernie Parent.

A text sent to Patel was not returned and a representative for the company did not respond to an email seeking further details.
