Providencia Cigars has announced the launch of its third line, Trinitas. It joins the company’s other two offerings, El Padre and El Santo.
The cigar is designed to be the boldest of the trio, with a Mexican San Andrés ligero wrapper covering a Nicaraguan binder, with a ligero laden filler that uses tobacco from two growing regions in Nicaragua and two in Honduras, according to Jim Faber, co-founder of Providencia Cigars.
It is being released in a single 6 1/2 x 52 double torpedo vitola, priced at $12 per cigar. They are offered in either 10-count boxes of 11-count bundles, both priced at $120 on the company’s website. Production is being handled by the Javier Mendoza’s Alianza Cigars factory in Danlí, Honduras, which is also known by the name La Pequena Vega. Mendoza also owns tobacco fields in the Trojes region of the country, according to the company’s website.
The name is a nod to the Faber’s faith, which was tested when he was the target of an attempted kidnapping in Honduras during the founding days of the company. The company has produced 250 boxes and 200 bundles of Trinitas for a total run of 4,700 cigars, and is currently debating whether or not that will be it for the line or to extend production into a more regular offering.
The company formally launched in 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas by Faber and business partners Raymond Zinar and Reed Grafke. It is currently based in Keller, Texas.
