By next month, there will be a third Partagas 1845. Multiple catalog retailers have indicated the Partagas 1845 Extra Oscuro will begin shipping in March, the same time as brick and mortar retailers expect to receive the Partagas 1845 Extra Fuerte.

It’s the same exact strategy General Cigar Co. used last year when it released updates to La Gloria Cubana Serie R: release one cigar only to brick and mortars and another exclusively to the larger catalog retailers. The idea is that it will create less tension as the catalog retailers can compete amongst themselves, independent of the brick and mortar stores.

As for the cigar, the wrapper is described as Connecticut Havana oscuro with a Dominican vega especiale binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua. Five sizes have appeared for pre-order at retailers: Double Corona (7 1/4 x 54, $7.75), Gigante (6 x 60, $8.03), Robusto (5 1/2 x 52, $7.26), Rothschild (4 1/2 x 50, $7.01) and Supremo (7 x 58, $8.47).

The cigars are packaged in boxes of 18 and feature a silver band with purple accents, one that first appeared in a picture posted by Aging Room’s Rafael Nodal.
