Last week, the Chicago suburb of Palos Heights, Ill. banned smoking at its public parks and pools.

The move is already in effect, although there are no fines for violators. Last year, Chicago banned smoking at its parks and others around the city have followed.

Palos Heights has a population over 10,000 and is located in Cook County, southwest of Chicago.
