It’s the second new size to arrive in the last month following the appearance of the Dámaso No. 34 at a handful of retailers.
The company has not returned emails seeking comment about either cigar, but retailers who received the No. 34 told halfwheel the company has informed them that the cigar featured a slightly stronger blend, something Corona reiterated for the No. 32.
The Dámaso was introduced last year, a major departure from Padrón’s box-pressed and Nicaragua-centric blends; it’s a round cigar that uses a Connecticut-seed wrapper that was not from Nicaragua.
The lighter blends have seemingly not caught on at retail, hence, the company gave certain retailers the No. 34, a slightly stronger version. It’s unclear whether either size will be a regular production item.
Currently there are four official sizes in the Dámaso line: the No. 17 (7 x 54), No. 15 (6 x 52), No. 8 (5 1/2 x 46) and No. 12 (5 x 50).
