In addition to the new Padilla Anniversary, the company will be offering select accounts an even more exclusive version of the cigar, the Padilla Anniversary 85th Edition.

It’s named after the noted Cuban poet, Herberto Padilla, father of Ernesto Padilla.

While the regular Padilla Anniversary will be produced at Raíces Cubanas, the 85th Anniversary will be produced in Nicaragua at the same factory that produces the Y.O. for Yaxel Ortiz, a cigar maker who also owns a Miami-based retail store. Ortiz also sell cigars under the Y.O. name at a handful of retailers. The small brand recently gained notoriety for being the cigar Lebron James celebrated with after winning the NBA championship.

Padilla is partnering with Yaxel Ortiz to produce the cigar.

As for the cigar, it uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over Nicaraguan fillers and additional undisclosed tobaccos.

Padilla previously told halfwheel pricing will be around $10 per cigar, he declined to talk additional details about the cigar other than stating it will have a secondary band.

Davidoff is the official sponsor of halfwheel's coverage of the 2016 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show.
