NyB Cigars has released a pair of limited edition lines into the European market: the Nicarao Especial Reserva 2014 and La Ley Reserva 2015.

The Nicarao Especial Reserva 2014 is being released in a single vitola, a 5 x 52 robusto, with production limited to 350 numbered boxes of 21 cigars, a total run of 7,350 cigars.

The La Ley Reserva 2015 gets two sizes; the Exquisitos measures 4 7/8 x 48 and is limited to 250 boxes of 21 cigars, while the Laguito 6 measures 6 1/2 x 56 and gets 500 boxes of 21 cigars, productions of 5,250 and 10,500 cigars, respectively.

Both lines have been aging for several years, first as unrolled leaves for a period of two to three years, then as finished cigars for an additional year. The company is not disclosing the blend for either cigar nor where the cigars are being produced. Both will be single production releases with no further cigars made for either line.

Didier Houvenhagel, founder of NyB Cigars, called the Reserva projects a passion inside a passion in a press release.  “It is amazing to see how certain cigars gain quality with time and sometimes the phenomenon can be tasted after a few years only,” he said.

Houvenhagel said that he has distributors in Belgium, France, Holland, Germany, Italy, Luxemburg, Sweden, and Switzerland currently offering the lines to retailers in those countries, with some allotments having already sold out. The company declined to announce pricing, citing that due to taxes, it can vary from country to country.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
