News: Viaje Ships 2013 Fifty Fifty & V.O.R.
Viaje has shipped the latest batch of Fifty Fifty Black and Red, along with its Oro Reserva to retailers as part of its latest shipment. The seven-cigar shipment includes the No.1 (5 5/8 x 46, $230.00) No.2 (6 x 50, $238.00) and No.3 (7 x 47, $246.00) in both blends of Fifty Fifty, along with the 5 1/2 x 52 V.O.R. #5, which will retail at $270.00 per box of 25.
This is the first time in two years Fifty Fifty is being released, after the company decided to not include it as part of the 2012 release. Each cigar is supposed to mimic two different smoke experiences, split down the middle with the latter half being stronger than the first half. The Fifty Fifty Black was introduced in 2009 and the Fifty Fifty Red debuted the following year.
The Viaje Oro Reserva debuted in 2010 using aged leaf and added ligero to Viaje’s Oro line. This will be the fourth release for the #5 size in the VOR line, which also saw a Double Torpedo release in 2011. Viaje will not be producing the V.P.R. “this year” according to the company. Traditionally, the V.P.R. and V.O.R. have been released together, the V.P.R. uses a similar combination of increased ligero and aged tobacco, only using a base blend of the Viaje Platino.
A representative for Viaje declined to offer production numbers for each cigar. Two retailers halfwheel spoke to confirmed they were invoiced for the same number of Fifty Fiftys and an additional unit of V.O.R., i.e., one box of each of the Fifty Fifty sizes and multiple boxes of V.O.R.
