The collaborative project between Janny García of My Father and Patricia and Raquel Quesada of SAG Imports/Quesada is set to return again to the annual IPCPR trade show and convention. As mentioned during an appearance on Kiss My Ash, Terence Reilly of SAG Imports has confirmed to halfwheel the line will return this July in Las Vegas, Nev.
Introduced last year at the 2012 trade show in Orlando, Fla., Tres Reynas is made at the García’s My Father Cigars S.A. and distributed by SAG Imports, who also handles distribution for Quesada, Casa Magna, Fonseca and Regius. A Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper is used over Nicaraguan fillers.
“This project started out as a fun experiment between friends,” said Relly in an e-mail statement. “It was very successful and so Patricia and Raquel spoke to Janny about making another batch.”
Back again is the Robusto (5 x 50) and Gordo (6 x 60) sizes. Last year the third size was a 6 x 54 Torpedo, Reilly indicated the size would now be referred to as a Belicoso and measure 6 x 52. In addition, a Corona (5 x 46) will be added at $6.95 per cigar or $139.00 per box of 20, which is standard fare for all the Tres Reynas sizes.
“We’ve added a Corona size because of all the new sample sizes we tasted the Corona was by far the best,” said Reilly.
Also changing will be the appearance.
“They still had the tobacco available from the original blend so we decided to make the same cigars, but with a band with different colors to separate the original run from this years.”
Last year’s band featured a white background as opposed to the new black background.
