News: Swedish Store Celebrates 190 Years With Special Padrón
Last month, Mellgren’s Fine Tobacco of Göteborg, Sweden celebrated its 190th year of business with a special cigar. Padrón created a unique cigar measuring six inches by 52 ring gauge with tobacco over a decade old. The cigars, which were packed in five-count boxes, were presented at a dinner attended by Padrón’s Cesar Gadea.
Gadea told halfwheel that the cigars were Padrón Family Reserve 45 with a maduro wrapper rolled especially for the event. Pricing was 1,625 Swedish crowns per box, or roughly $255.00 based off of current exchange rates.
While the company is not known for limited editions, it has become a regular when it comes to producing cigars for major retailer anniversaries. Earlier this year, W. Curtis Draper received a pair of cigars for its 125th anniversary, while a year ago J.J. Fox was given one in honor of its 225th anniversary. Other stores to receive special Padróns for anniversaries include: L. J. Peretti, Holt’s, Arnold’s, Old Virginia Tobacco Company, Smoke Inn and Tobacco Plaza.
