Skip Martin of RoMa Craft Tobac has announced that the Aquitaine Blockhead will soon become a store exclusive for Monte’s Pueblo Pipe Shop in Albuquerque, N.M.

In an email sent to halfwheel, Martin said that the 6 x 54 box pressed gran toro will be released on December 20th with a price of $9.00 per cigar and $90.00 per ten-count box. He added that it will be primarily reserved for walk-in customers, though a limited number will be available for phone and mail order.

The Aquitaine blend uses an Ecuadoran Habano Ligero wrapper with filler leaf coming from three separate areas of Nicaragua: Estelí, Condega and a small farm on the Honduran border called Pueblo Nuevo, and the binder coming from Cameroon.

Currently, the Aquitaine line is available in five regular production sizes:

  • Aquitaine The Knuckle Dragger (4 x 52) — $6.50 (Boxes of 24, $156)
  • Aquitaine The Mandible (4 1/2 x 60) — $7.25 (Boxes of 24, $174)
  • Aquitaine The EMH (5 x 56) — $7.75 (Boxes of 24, $186)
  • Aquitaine The Anthropology (5 3/4 x 46) — $8.00 (Boxes of 24, $192)
  • Aquitaine The Cranium (6 x 54) — $8.50 (Boxes of 24, $204)

He added that the CroMagnon Blockhead, which was released earlier this year, is still available in limited quantities through Tower Pipes & Cigars in Sacramento, Calif. and Tobacco Grove in Maple Grove, Minn.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
