La Gloria Cubana Quietly Releases Bella Dama

La Gloria Cubana has quietly released what appears to be another limited edition regional release, this time an 8 x 60 cigar called “Bella Dama.”

Retailers in Illinois, Pennsylvania and New York have been tweeting about it, though General Cigar Co., which owns the La Gloria Cubana mark, hasn’t put out an official release as of yet. The cigar has yet to be mentioned on the La Gloria Cubana Facebook page and has only been mentioned three times via the brand’s Twitter account, all of which were retweets. It also has yet to be mentioned on the LGC blog.

The cigar is said to use an Ecuadoran wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and a filler blend from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. One retailer noted that the Bella Dama uses the “white box” blend but with more Nicaraguan and less Dominican tobacco in the filler. Another retailer who was featuring the cigar at an event noted that the cigar has been aged for six years and is medium strength, “very rich but creamy with notes of cedar and spice.”

The La Gloria Cubana Bella Dama comes in 10-count boxes with a price of $80, though one retailer has them listed for $59.95. It is being made at General Cigar Dominicana.

La Gloria Cubana has been steadily releasing limited run cigars around the country over the past 12 months. On April 9, news broke of the Rabito de Cochino ADP6, a 6 x 56 that is heading to the Western U.S. and is limited to 1,450 boxes of 20 with a price tag of $8 per cigar. The blend for the ADP6 is said to be stronger than the Serie R blend and is a follow-up to an event-only petit lancero that was released in 2011.

In February, news surfaced about  the La Gloria Cubana Serie R Little Belicoso that was being released only to brick & mortar retailers. The release contained 40 total cigars per box, split evenly for 20 each of the natural and maduro wrappers. That release was limited to 753 boxes.

At the end of 2012, Michael Giannini, La Gloria Cubana’s brand manager, shared details about the Sanson, an 8 x 60 regional release that was headed to the Southeastern U.S. That cigar was one of the final candidates to be part of La Gloria Cubana’s Trunk Show line, which was released at IPCPR 2012.

Prior to that was the Piramide Supra, a 7 1/4 x 62 vitola which was released to stores in the Northeastern United States in November 2012. Prior to that, the brand released the Gorda Gorda, a 6 1/2 x 64 vitola for the Western U.S. in June 2012. Production was limited on both of those cigars, with the Piramide Supra capped at 777 boxes of 10 and the Gorda Gorda at 500 boxes of 10.
