KILO, the pet project of Miami Cigar & Co.’s Barry Stein, is set for a 2014 debut. This past weekend, Stein tweeted that it would be released on January 24, 2014, the 166th anniversary of when gold was discovered in California. Stein told halfwheel the cigar will go to 24 accounts, known as “24 KT” stores in January and will see a full launch at the 2014 IPCPR trade show and convention.

Stein debuted the cigar at the 2013 Chattanooga Tweet-Up in August and it has since seen a second release in New Mexico. So far only the Robusto size has debuted although Stein has indicated to halfwheel a Corona and Gordo size were being tested as possible options.

The cigar’s gold theme is not only evident in some of the naming, but also the boxes and bands.

I am an editor and co-founder of halfwheel.com/Rueda Media, LLC. I previously co-founded and published TheCigarFeed, one of the two predecessors of halfwheel. I have written about the cigar industry for more than a decade, covering everything from product launches to regulation to M&A. In addition, I handle a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff here at halfwheel. I enjoy playing tennis, watching boxing, falling asleep to the Le Mans 24, wearing sweatshirts year-round and eating gyros. echte liebe.
