On Wednesday, Smokin’ Joe’s in Alcoa, Tenn. announced the arrival of the E.P. Carrillo Lounge Exclusive, a cigar being produced exclusively for them in recognition of being the first E.P. Carrillo branded lounge in the world.

News of the new arrival came via this picture posted on the store’s Twitter and Facebook accounts:

According to Smokin’ Joe’s owner, Mike Hicks, the E.P. Carrillo Smokin’ Joe’s Lounge Exclusive is a single vitola 6 x 54  that uses a Brazilian Habano Maduro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and a filler blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco.

The store has received its initial shipment of 100 20-count boxes of the cigar, and while it is limited to Smokin’ Joe’s, it will be available on a regular basis in the store. The cigar sells for $8.49 each.

The cigar will make its formal debut on February 28th at an event with Ernesto Perez-Carrillo and members of his family.

Smokin’ Joe’s became the first E.P. Carrillo lounge in the country last fall, with the lounge’s remodel being completed in November, and currently is the only E.P. Carrillo lounge in existence. E.P. Carrillo joins My Father Cigars as notable manufacturers offering lounge exclusive cigars.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
