In the first hour of his Saturday, January 26 show, Cigar Dave mentioned a new release that was coming from Ernesto Perez-Carrillo titled Perez-Carrillo. No details regarding blend, price or sizes were mentioned as the blend is still being finalized, though the new line is down to three blend options for final consideration and is slated to debut at the 2013 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show in July.

Details of the Short Run 2013 were also mentioned: it will use an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Dominican Piloto Cubano binder and Nicaraguan and Ecuadorian filler. Cigar Dave quoted Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III as saying that this year’s edition will be “the fullest of the four Short Runs we have done to date, but it’s creamy and spicy.”

The E.P. Carrillo Short Run will come in Robusto, Toro and Magnum vitolas, with 1,500 boxes of 24 cigars produced for each size. MSRP is said to be between $6 – $9 per cigar.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
