Casa Fernandez Planning 35th Anniversary Limited Edition, Box Pressed Reserva Maduro

Casa Fernandez is finalizing plans on a limited edition cigar that will debut at the upcoming IPCPR trade show and celebrate the 35th anniversary of the company.

Paul Palmer, president of Casa Fernandez/Tabacalera Tropical,  said that the cigar, which will be known as the Casa Fernandez 35th Anniversary, will be a 6 1/2 x 54 box pressed, double-ended Torpedo that will use “the best of the best Aganorsa tobacco.” Production will be capped at 2,000 boxes of ten for a total run of 20,000 cigars, and will be made at their Miami factory where all Casa Fernandez cigars are produced.

The cigars are slated to have a retail price of $14 per cigar, and Palmer and his cousin, Eduardo Fernández, will hand-sign each of the 2,000 boxes in this one-time project. Fernández purchased Tabacalera Tropical from Pedro Martin in 2002; Martin started that company in 1978.

Casa Fernandez is also planning a line extension of their Miami Reserva, as they will be introducing a box-pressed Maduro version. Many of the specific details are still being finalized, though Palmer said they will come in 15 or 20-count boxes and will also be made in Miami using a San Andrés wrapper. He also noted that they will be available in 54 and 60 ring gauge vitolas, though hadn’t finalized the lengths.

At the 2012 IPCPR trade show, Casa Fernandez introduced the Casa Fernandez-Miami Aganorsa Leaf Maduro Box Pressed as well as the Casa Fernandez-Miami Arsenio.
