Gran Habano has given its Corojo #5 Maduro line a fresh look for 2015 including new bands and boxes that have begun shipping out to retailers.

Gran Habano Corojo 5 Maduro box and single 2

Much like the Corojo #5 line, the maduro version uses a Nicaraguan corojo leaf for the wrapper and binder, with the filler coming from Nicaragua and Costa Rica. The line is available in five sizes, all of which come in 20-count boxes: a 5 x 52 robusto, 6 x 54 gran robusto, 6 x 60 Imperiales, 6 x 66 CZAR and the 7 1/2 x 58 Triumph. MSRP for the line ranges from $6.00 – $8.30, with the cigars being made at G.R. Tabacaleras Unidas S.A. in Honduras.

It’s one of many packaging changes that the company has announced and begun to reveal: the Corojo #5 line has added a 7 x 70 Grandioso vitola that recently began shipping, while the G.A.R. Red line has added two sizes, a 5 x 50 robusto and 6 x 54 toro gordo while dropping the 6 x 66 vitola. The long-awaited S.T.K. Zulu Zulu Mas Paz Edition also recently began shipping, and the company is expected to announce new packaging for its Gran Reserva line when it unveils the new Gran Reserva #5 2011. There are also a pair of new lines slated for release at this year’s IPCPR Convention & Trade Show: the Miami-made George Rico S.T.K. Miami and a yet-to-be-named line that was simply referred to as “Gran Habano” by the company in previous communications, though it is slated to be a Nicaraguan puro made at the company’s Honduras factory.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
