Longport, N.J. Bans Smoking at Beaches & Parks

Longport, N.J. has banned smoking at its parks, beaches and recreational facilities.

While it joins a few other Jersey Shore towns, it’s the first one in Atlantic County to do so. Violators will be fined up to $250 for the first offense, $500 for a second and up to $1,000 of any subsequent violations.

Longport is located on Absecon Island just north of Ocean City and south of Atlantic City. It has a population of under 1,000 residents.
