La Flor Dominicana will be back at the Texas Cigar Festival in Houston, and will once again be bringing a limited edition for sale to attendees.

The 2015 edition uses the same tobacco blend as was used on the 2014 edition, which scored 89 points on halfwheel, and the 2013 edition, which earned a score of 88, though the vintages of the tobacco are different. The blend was created by Litto Gomez at the request of Ron Lesseraux, owner of Serious Cigars, who asked that the cigar maker create something unique for the event. Gomez had complete creative control on the blend and size of the cigar.

The La Flor Dominicana Texas Cigar Festival blend uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, Sumatra binder and filler from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. It returns in a 6 1/2 x 50 toro extra vitola, with a single stick price of $8.20. Just 70 ten count boxes are being produced at Tabacalera La Flor S.A., each with an MSRP of $82.

The 2015 Texas Cigar Festival happens Saturday, April 25 at Serious Cigars’ Champions location in Houston, Texas.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
