The former head of General Cigar Co. is going to a sister company of General’s largest competitor.

Dan Carr has joined ITG Brands, LLC, a subsidiary of Imperial Brands, plc, which also owns Altadis U.S.A. ITG is the company’s U.S. cigarette, smokeless tobacco, little cigar and e-cigarette division.

Carr will be the company’s president where he will report to David Taylor, the company’s ceo.

“Dan comes to ITG Brands with a powerful combination of fast-moving consumer packaged goods experience and extensive tobacco qualifications in both smokeless and cigars,” said Taylor in a press release.

Carr most recently served as the president of General Cigar Co., a position he had held since 2005, until he was fired last year. He was also the two-term chairman of the Cigar Association of America.
