Multiple sources confirmed to halfwheel that Mark Pursell has been hired as the next chief executive officer of the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailer’s Association (IPCPR). The move was made official late last night and board members were briefed earlier today.

Pursell joins the IPCPR after serving as the senior vice-president at the National Association of Home Builders where he oversaw both legislative staff and the International Builders’ Show, which had over 75,000 people in attendance this past year. While there is no start date, Pursell will be at the 2014 IPCPR convention and trade show in July.

“The IPCPR is excited for the direction that Mark will take us in,” said Finnie Helmuth, president of IPCPR, in a press release. “His proven success in tradeshow management, publishing, education marketing and advertising businesses will allow him to take the IPCPR to exciting new levels.”

The organization has been without a ceo since last September when Bill Spann resigned.

Pursell has held similar positions at the Associated General Contractors of America and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association according to a press release.
