Sindicato Cigars was once again part of a larger group of booths that include Casa Fernández and Warped, and while there was some crossover in the middle section, each one managed to keep its own feel.

For those that don’t know Sindicato is a company launched not by an individual but by a collection of retailers around the country. It’s now the fourth year for Sindicato to be at the trade show, which is of note since how the company would be received was a big question when they debuted in 2013. A few years later? It seems like they’re viewed as pretty much every other brand.

The company had a pair of new products this year: a line extension to Affinity and the full release of two new sizes of Particulares.

Affinity Maduro

The Affinity, one of Sindicato’s original releases is getting a maduro version in five sizes. Limited amounts have been in test markets for the past year or so, but it will now go nationwide. While I didn’t look in every corner of the booth, I didn’t see an open box of these cigars on display, only closed boxes such as pictured above.

  • Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Nicaragua
  • Affinity Maduro Churchill (7 x 56) — $9.95 (Box of 21, $208.95)
  • Affinity Maduro Corona (5 1/2 x 46) — $7.95 (Box of 21, $183.75)
  • Affinity Maduro Gran Toro (6 x 60) — $9.95 (Box of 21, $208.95)

Particulares Extensions

Two new sizes of the Particulares line are getting national distribution after being limited to southern Florida for the past year. While they were announced last year, you should be seeing them on shelves around the country before long. I didn’t see any open boxes of these, wither.

  • Wrapper: Nicaraguan Corojo
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Nicaragua
  • Particulares Corona Gorda (5 1/2 x 48) — $7.80 (Box of 20, $156)
  • Particulares Robusto (5 x 52) — $7.95 (Box of 21, $158.95)

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
