Mombacho Booth IPCPR 2016

Mombacho’s plans for the trade show were pretty much on the table before the show started; the headlining cigar was announced in Dec. 2015, while a packaging update was announced in the weeks prior to the show. One new size to the LIga Maestro is on the way, as is the updated look to the company’s core line, Tierra Volcan. While there wasn’t a banner hung up to proclaim it, it appears the Mombacho name will be seen much more in the United States.

Mombacho 10th Anniversary

Fans have the brand have had this on their radar for nearly seven months; it’s a single vitola that uses a combination of tobacco from the company’s two lines, breaking a rule that master blender and Mombacho president Claudio Sgroi said he’d never do. Both production and distribution are limited, with the cigar offered to stores who have been Mombacho retailers since 2014, or retailers who have been to the company’s Casa Favailli factory in Nicaragua, or those hitting a minimum purchase number.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
