La-Casa-del-Habano-Playa-del-Carmen-8.png

I recently traveled to Playa del Carmen for work, and thought I would stop by the LCDH there and see how it is situated, and gather some info for anyone who is planning on going down there since it is NOT easy to find. It is an extremely small store (only one room with a [...]

Weekly News (January 24, 2011)

On Tuesday, we broke the news regarding the discontinuation of the AVO 787. La Sirena, Miami Cigar & Co.’s newest release, is in Miami at the warehouse, should be at retailers in a few days. In other news from Miami Cigar & Co., the La Aurora Corojo will be released at the 2011 IPCPR show. For anyone that was at the show this past year, you’ll know it was one of the cigars featured at the booth, however packaging and branding concerns led to a decision to relaunch and release the cigar in July. It will feature new packaging and banding, but the cigar itself will be the same. La Aurora also announced that the 1495 BME Sumo Short Robusto will be making it’s U.S. debut. The NUb-style cigar has been in the European markets since early fall, and Miami Cigar & Co. has now decided to bring the cigar to the U.S. market. It’s 4 x 58 and should be available in a few packaging options, including boxes of five. In other large ring gauge news, the Cain F NUb is also shipping this week, the post from when we originally broke the story now has price points for the two sizes. In other Oliva/Studio Tobac news, rumor has it the Studio Tobac tour will start on el niño diablo’s birthday.

Pete Johnson, owner of Tatuaje, has spent the past week in Nicaragua at Pepín’s factory finalizing blends for the summer. For those that shy away from the various forms of social media, but still love [...]

Weekly News (January 10, 2011)

If there was ever a fun week of news… this is going to be it. It’s an eclectic bit of information. Pete Johnson confirmed what we reported last week: the Tatuaje Black Label Petite Lancero would be a retailer exclusive for Tobacco Grove, the same store that got the Viaje Samurai in late December. It [...]

Weekly News (January 3, 2010)

I hope everyone has recovered from what hopefully was a fun and safe new years… (Awkward transition) And now the news… Pete Johnson tweeted about smoking a Black Label Petite Lancero, it will be a retailer exclusive stick, unsure about price and release date – although soon is what the birdies are saying. Yesterday I [...]

Review: Romeo y Julieta Short Churchill

Romeo-y-Julieta-Short-Churchill7.png

Today we will be taking a look at a young Cuban cigar. One thing Brooks and myself wanted to start doing in 2011 is reviewing more young Habanos to accommodate the people that don’t necessarily age their cigars. It’s nice to know how a particular cigar or box code is smoking right off the truck. [...]

Weekly News (December 27, 2010)

First, I hope you enjoyed the holidays, even if you aren’t religious and don’t celebrate Boxing Day; now let’s see if I can get through the news without any false reporting on Dylan Austin stories… Cuba increased its export of machine made cigars, no word on premium handmades. Speaking of Cuba, Habanos announced the La [...]
