Review: Liga Privada MF-13 (Preproduction)
(Editor’s Note: When Brooks reviewed this cigar, it was known as “MF-13″, which, as he notes at the end of the review, stands for what you think it would. MF-13 was always meant to be an internal name for a variety of purposes. Given the release of the JD4/MF-4 as the UF-4, one would assume [...]
Review: Liga Privada Único Serie L40 (Prerelease)
Today we will be taking a look at a much anticipated prerelease cigar, the Liga Privada L40. Liga Privada cigars have always been known to float around in prerelease form for quite some time now. It’s a wonderful chance for people to sample blends that will be made in the future and sometimes blends that [...]
Review: Drew Estate “Double Signature Reserve”
For those of you that don’t know… The odds are that you have never heard of this cigar produced by Drew Estate, and the story behind it is one of the main reasons I decided to spend the time to review it… In 2009, the (then) owner of Tobacco World in Atlanta, Georgia, Robert Wachtel, [...]
Review: Liga Privada JD4 (Preproduction)
About 6 months ago, there were sightings and mentions of a new preproduction blend that the guys over at Drew Estate were handing out to specific people. Dubbed the “JD4″, it is a 6 x 52ish cigar that uses the same stalk-cut wrapper (and shares quite a bit of the same characteristics) as the much loved T52 blend.
Liga Privada T52 Flying Pig (Prerelease)
When I think of fantastic cigars of the past year, one that jumps right out at me is the Liga Privada #9 Flying Pig (which we reviewed here). If you are active in the cigar community, you have definitely heard, seen or experienced Drew Estates rise to the top of the Premium cigar world. There [...]
Review: Liga Privada Único Serie Dirty Rat
One of the most anticipated cigars of the year is the first in Drew Estate’s Único Serie. Dubbed the Dirty Rat, or Rata Sucia in Spanish, is not all that new. Drew Estate began handing out preproduction samples as early as October of 2009. I first reviewed a preproduction sample of the Dirty Rat way back [...]
Review: Liga Privada T52 Double Corona
When Jonathan Drew of Drew Estate fame told me he was sending me a few samples to smoke and review, I said “awesome, can’t wait!” Inside the package I received from Drew Estate were some samples of a cigar called the JD4, which we will get into at a later date when we review it, and [...]
Review: Drew Estate “Dirty Rat” (Preproduction)
(Editor’s Note: As with all Preproduction cigar previews, this one will be a list of information about the cigar and general impressions from smoking it. There will be no final rating given, as I believe it is not equitable to rate a cigar that has not yet been finalized and released to the public. Having said [...]
Review: Liga Privada T52 Parejo
Another of the new releases by the reinvented Drew Estates, the Liga Privada T52, has quite a bit going for it. It is a multi-country blend of tobaccos; the core of which are Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers and the Brazilian Mata Fina binder is grown by José Fuego. The blend is exciting, but the wrapper [...]
Review: Liga Privada No. 9 Flying Pig (Prerelease)
When I heard that Drew Estates was releasing a new size in the Liga Privada No. 9 blend called the “Flying Pig”, I honestly thought it was a joke. However, I have to admit that the name sticks, and the unique shape and look of the cigar does not hurt any either. For those of you [...]
