Later this month, smoking will be banned in parks in Hamilton, Ohio.

The new rule affects all parks, though Marcum Park will have a smoking area, and city facilities, where smoking will be banned in and around all facilities.

While the law takes effect on Sept. 22, a six-month compliance period will exist before $50 fines are issued.

Hamilton is located in southwest Ohio, about 20 miles north of Cincinnati, it is the county seat of Butler County. It has a population over 60,000.
