Lone Star State Tobacco Co., with locations in Allen and Plano, Texas, has announced that they will soon be receiving a store exclusive cigar crafted by Ezra Zion Cigar Company.

The SP3 is a Nicaraguan puro, with a dark corojo wrapper laid over a blend of tobaccos from several growing regions in Nicaragua. It will be available in three sizes:  a 7 x 48 churchill, 5 x 50 robusto and 6 x 46 corona, with pricing ranging from $6.50 to $7.50 per cigar. Due to contractual obligations, the factory of origin and total production numbers are not being disclosed.

“We hit up the Ezra Zion boys to do something special for our shops,” said Steve Parker, owner of Lone Star State Tobacco Co. via a press release. “I told them the profile we wanted and what our customers were purchasing most from their blends, and they hit it out of the park for us.”

The SP3 is named in homage to Stephen Parker III, Parker’s son and namesake. It will be released at a pair of launch events scheduled for September 4th and 6th at the Allen and Plano locations respectively, with both starting at 5 pm.

“It’s an honor to be asked to make a house exclusive. Steve is a good friend and fellow Texan, so it’s a thrill to do a project with him.” stated Chris Kelly of Ezra Zion Cigar Company.

“Making a cigar as a tribute has a long tradition in this industry. We’re glad we could be a part of a project that represents a Father’s love for his son.” added Kyle Hoover, also from Ezra Zion.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
