Davidoff of Geneva USA has announced that Dylan Austin has been promoted to be the company’s new vp of sales and marketing.

The 36-year-old Austin will formally move into the role effective Jan. 1, 2018. He is currently the company’s vp of marketing and will now lead strategic and day-to-day oversight of the company’s sales organization and key account team according to a press release. Austin will retain his role in charge of the marketing for most of the company’s portfolio.

“As competition continues to become more aggressive in our newly-regulated industry, the lines between sales and marketing continue to blur,” said Jim Young, president of Davidoff North America, in a press release. “The time has come for our company to align marketing and commercial efforts into one single approach. Dylan Austin is a performance-driven professional with deep industry knowledge and relationships – he has orchestrated some of our most impactful sales and marketing initiatives over the past half-decade.”

Austin joined the cigar industry in 2005 and became part of the Davidoff family after the acquisition of Camacho Cigars in 2008. During his time with the company, he has helped shape the success of Davidoff of Geneva USA brands in the US, as well as of the company overall, according to a company statement. He will retain marketing responsibility for his current portfolio of brands, including AVO, Camacho, Baccarat The Game, Cusano, The Griffin’s, and Zino Platinum.

He replaces Jeffrey Lee, the current vp of sales, who is retiring from the company after 22 years of service.

“It is with great pride and energy that I accept my appointment as the new vice president of sales and marketing,” said Austin. “Our company has not only great brands, but also one of the best commercial teams in the business. It is my honor to lead them into the future, forging deeper relationships with our network of retail channel partners, and further drive the success of our great cigar portfolio,” he added.

Austin will remain in the company’s Pinellas Park, Fla. office.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
