It doesn’t really make sense to have a cigar store with the name of your largest competitor’s on it, so Davidoff My Own Blend in Copenhagen, Denmark is now Cigar Shop Macanudo.

Tomorrow, Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) will reopens its store in Copenhagen store with a new name and a new look.

STG, which also owns General Cigar Co. and Cigars International, has owned the shop for years. While it’s not as well-known as STG’s American retail operations like Cigars International or Club Macanudo, the Copenhagen store is located about 5 miles away from the company’s global headquarters making it the home store for many STG employees.

“With Macanudo featured in our new shop name, the modern and rich textures in the lounge, blending room and walk-in humidor reflect the brand while capturing the feel of a cigar store 50 years ago,” said Martin Segerlund Kristiansen, the store’s manager. “The response so far has been tremendous and we look forward to welcoming our new and loyal clientele to the newest and finest ‘temple of tobacco’ in Scandinavia.”

Cigar Shop Macanudo has its grand re-opening Friday afternoon.
