Smoking on city property on the beachside town of Brigantine, N.J. is now illegal. 

Last week, the Brigantine City Council passed ordinance 15-4 which prohibits smoking on municipal property, including the use of electronic cigarettes. Notably exempt from the bill is smoking restrictions for golf courses and beaches. Punishment can include a $100 fine and 10 hours of community service.

Brigantine is in island town located in Atlantic County along the eastern seaboard. It has a population around 10,000.
